The power of the Cube and the Camera

Today I was playing around with marbles and mirrors. I like the idea of using me of a material that is fine, delicate and classic, but also as in this case created with the purpose to be played with.

The marbles are heavy but also transparent, which gives my form a ambiguous feeling. The mirrors give rise to ideas about the concepts of space and geometry.

I get farscinerad by the idea that the environment and different angles can display the cube in such different ways.

Covering a plant

Two of my plants got more acquainted with my wasted foods.

I let sour milk and soup slowly flow down over the plants. An experiment with the meeting of two organic products, that clearly shows the over-consumption and wastefulness in the society.

I saw some films made by BLU and came to think of this children's programs. I liked this when I was little. Who does not like to play with their food?

It is interesting how the work is not resistant.
How it evolves and changes.
How it would not exist unless it was caught on film.

one minute Cremaster

Hybrid!

I watched parts of Cremaster where Matthew Barney describes how he is attracted by his work and how he gets fascinated by the strange and eerie.

I came to think of this project I did a year ago. I made a cat mask and wore it for a day.

With this work I wanted to approach the human fascination with the blend of man and animals. It was based on people's historical connection to animals but also to the contact we have with animals today and how society shaped us.

I went home on the subway with the mask, children became frightened, while the adults were curious and very social. I liked this project, but it was funny how I started acting like a cat.

I was not filmed and I did not do it as a performance but it was very special, perhaps something that I should be investigated further.

It´s to big!

The exercise or experiment began with me giving the group a questiona and the person who answered correctly were given a specific task. This person was asked to lead the others in Konstfacks premises until the group protested. The group was blindfolded and walked on a line. The group changed the positions when the leader told them to.

This went on for 60 minutes after 50 minutes, we left them in a toilet where they stood for five minutes before they took off the blindfold. This film shows the first 20 minutes of the exercise.

It felt like we could have been continued for much longer. If I would do it again, I would prohibit speech. I think it would make a big difference. The speech is both calming and encouraging the participants. In the discussion, we concluded that the results probably would have been different if there were more or fewer participants. I asked why they did not give up earlier, one reasons was that they did not perceive the time and the second was that they did not want to ruin it for me when they knew it was my workstation.

We also discussed how people sometimes want to be controlled, how much you trust the leader and how blind people must feel.

The question I asked in the beginning was placed there to draw attention to how knowledge can be related to power.

Tawny Owl!?

This project has got me thinking that I should focus my work on surveying and monitoring, the eye's impact on the viewer. With control and power as keywords.

Gooey!

I really like this material, I sat for 30 minutes and just played with it. It was great to smear with. I was fascinating by the material's simplicity and it felt a bit like magic when the form became liquid when the pressure eased.

The movie would probably be more interesting if you saw my fascination and joy.

The elephant is getting really disgusting, he/she smells very bad, and the robot elephant is now feeling more and more apealing. 

The cute and fluffy has become repulsive. The additions are not disgusting, but together and in this context they become nasty.
